London: A Design Trip Across the Pond

London: A Design Trip Across the Pond

Last week, I hopped across the pond to join Design Destination London (DDL) and, as you might imagine, I went completely off-script. Between reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and immersing myself in the old-world charm of all things British, the trip turned into a whirlwind of design, inspiration, and (of course) copious amounts of tea.

The Design-Filled Itinerary

DDL did a phenomenal job organizing insightful talks, showroom visits, and excursions to some of the most storied brands in British design. Stops included legendary names like Howe, Jamb, Fermoie, Robert Kime, Nina Campbell, and many more. Every visit was a masterclass in craftsmanship, history, and the timeless elegance of English interiors.

Vintage Treasures & Afternoon Teas

First on my personal agenda? Vintage art shopping with my dear friends Julia Collins and Tanya Zendra—because what’s a trip to London without a little treasure hunting? We spent hours talking shop, admiring curated collections, and, naturally, indulging in plenty of tea.

One of the standout moments of my trip was meeting Gen Harris (aka Mrs. Trufflepig) at Fortnum & Mason for high tea. Between navigating the fine art of not spilling and debating whether to put jam or clotted cream first on my scone (team jam!), it was an experience I won’t soon forget.

Another rewarding visit was getting to meet Carlos Garcia, a designer I deeply admire. We previewed his stunning new fabric line while sipping tea (again!) at Edward Bulmer’s Paint store. Seeing his work up close was nothing short of inspiring.

Design Visits

On a last-minute whim, I popped over to Louise Roe’s home to see the much-talked-about Sharland England wares in person. They lived up to every bit of the hype—her tabletop collections and woven furnishings are as dreamy as you’d expect. And of course, Louise herself was just as lovely.

Next, I made my way to the fantastical world of Beata Heuman, visiting her townhouse shop to admire her full line of lighting, fabrics, and furniture. Every piece was a testament to her signature playfulness and attention to detail.

The Grand Finale

I won’t lie—I ate, I shopped, and I ran around London like a design-obsessed maniac. And I had the time of my life doing it. Special thanks to Sanderson, Urban Electric, DDL, Louise Roe, Edward Bulmer Paint, and, most importantly, the loves of my life—Collins and Green Art and Tarn London—for making this trip even more memorable.

I met so many talented designers across the country—too many to name them all—but here are a few you should absolutely follow for a daily dose of design inspiration:
