Tell us a little about yourself—how did you get started in design?

Shortly after college I enrolled in a two year program at Parsons and got an Associates Degree in Interior Design.  I applied on a whim, not sure what I was getting myself into! Thankfully, it's worked out!

Do you have a signature design element or style that defines your work?

I'm all about comfort and ease. Things can be beautiful or eclectic, and still be very livable. I don't think you need to sacrifice comfort for style.

Was there a specific project that shaped your approach to design?

A few years ago we started getting clients who wanted to incorporate vintage pieces and new pieces in their home. This is a big component to our work today. Weaving the old with the new, making sure things function well, creating spaces that don't feel so perfect that you can't relax in them.

What’s the best piece of design advice you’ve ever received, and how has it influenced your work?

A few lifetimes ago, when I worked as a junior designer at a firm, my boss always asked 'where's the towel going to go'? A client should be able to shower, open the shower door and grab a towel without crossing the room and dripping all over the floor. Now, it's something I'm constantly saying to my team when we review bathroom drawings.

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about working with an interior designer?

Good design takes time. We need to ask you questions and get to know you so that we can design homes that not only look good, but work well for you.

What’s your favorite design trend this year, and how are you bringing it into your projects?

I'm very happy to see color is being embraced across the board!  Some clients are scared of color, but we show them that many colors, in the right tones, can still feel neutral and calm.

Where do you find the most inspiration—travel, nature, fashion, or something else?

This year I've found myself pouring over design books, studying them and taking time with each page.  I am constantly in awe of what others are doing, I will always be learning!

If you were designing your dream bathroom from scratch, what’s the first thing you’d choose?

I'm not just saying this because you make beautiful vanities, but - the vanity. The material specifically. Painted or stained? It sets the tone for the rest of the room.

If you could use just one wallpaper in a bathroom, which would it be and why?

This is like asking me to pick a favorite child, kind of unfair! Right now I am lusting after Antoinette Poisson's 'Grenades' wallpaper, in any color.

What’s your favorite Vanity & Co. style and how would you customize it for your client? Would you paint the vanity in a bold color, use a fun fabric? We’d love to know.

It's a tie between the Anna and Evie. We are using both in projects right now. Both are wood stained but I'd love to go with a fun color the next time!
